Backing up a few days prior to the last Lechwe hunt, the hunter CJ Cronje also had the chance in taking his bow in hand a go after Lechwe.
This hunt was not expected and the decision was made that he also wanted to try his luck in getting one.
As we were stalking the Bull he kept on noticing us in the open grasslands. He moved into a group of ewes where he started feeding again. As the opportunity arose, he gave CJ a quartering towards a shot at 44 yards while looking at him as he drew the bow. The shot broke and the arrow hit him very hard! As Lechwe sometimes do, he ran to the nearest water and got into it, this made it a bit difficult to retrieve the animal but in the end, it all worked out great!
